Congratulations to the BCH staff that have recently been promoted to leadership positions within the company!

Jay Stone

Vice President/Director of Engineering at Belt Collins Hawaii LLC

EDUCATION:  University of Notre Dame (IN)

In his new role, Jay Stone will oversee the firm’s Engineering Department, including setting and executing the department’s strategic vision, leading department operations and seeking and obtaining new work while managing multiple projects for a variety of private, federal, state and county clients. Stone succeeds Cheryl Palesh, who had served as director of engineering for more than 10 years. Palesh will remain in an advisory role and continue assisting on several engineering projects for the firm.

EDUCATION:  Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey - New Brunswick/Piscataway (New Brunswick, NJ)

In the Planning Department, Allen Kam will lead all planning personnel; manage the firm’s planning functions such as master development plans, land use and resort development studies, urban and regional plans, entitlement processing, and site planning for public and private sector clients; and represent the company and clients at public meetings. Allen succeeds Joanne Hiramatsu, who has served as director of planning since 2013.

Michael Garris

Vice President/Director of Landscape Architecture at Belt Collins Hawaii

EDUCATION:  University of Georgia (Athens, GA)

Michael Garris will step into his new role as Director of Landscape Architecture and is looking to grow the firm’s landscape architecture department, engage in daily business affairs, and oversee business development efforts for the department. Michael, who was previously an associate and senior landscape architect/planner with BCH, succeeds Aaron Akau, who was promoted to president and CEO of the firm earlier this year.

EDUCATION:  University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (Honolulu, HI)

John Chung, who recently served as public works manager and administrator for the Hawai‘i State Department of Education for nearly four years, returns to BCH in the same capacity prior to his leaving the firm in 2016. In his role, Chung serves as a principal engineer and project manager for the firm’s civil engineering projects including site development, master planning, infrastructure assessments, and roadway and infrastructure design.
